Alabama football fans have witnessed an absolutely incredible start to the season for the Crimson Tide offense. Mac Jones has masterfully taken command, and performed with surgical precision.
The University of Alabama football program has laid claim to just two Heisman Trophy winners in it’s long and illustrious history. In both instances, it was a Tide running back that took home the most sought after prize in collegiate football. After a hot start in 2020, it’s Crimson Tide signal caller Mac Jones that has positioned himself way out front along with Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence in this season’s Heisman Trophy race.
Mac Jones has absolutely been on fire for Alabama throughout the first three games of the 2020 college football season. On the season, Jones is 66 of 83 for 1,101 yards. That’s an astounding 79.5 percent on his completion percentage, averaging 13.3 yards per pass with eight touchdowns to just one interception. His longest pass of the season thus far went for 87 yards. If Mac Jones continues to play with those sort of eye popping numbers, there is absolutely no way he won’t be a part of this year’s Heisman Trophy ceremony. In fact, Mac Jones may just hoist the trophy, and bring number three back to sweet home, Alabama.
According to the USA TODAY Network Heisman survey, Mac Jones is gaining ground on presumed favorite Trevor Lawrence, and even recieved some first place votes after his showing against Ole Miss.
